Enrollments

Updated over a year ago

In addition to setting up your employer plan and making sure employees choose the best coverage for their needs, the plan enrollment process with carriers is another critical part of ICHRA.

Because of constraints in the individual health plan market, electing a plan online on the Zorro platform does not mean that the employee is enrolled in the plan. In fact, there is no automatic way to transmit an election from Zorro directly to the carrier. Instead, the Enrollment Team must take the information from Zorro and submit it manually to each carrier according to their data requirements and specific process.

The Enrollment Team will be responsible for:

  • Assisting your employees if they need help selecting a plan: The Enrollment Team will virtually meet with any employees who request help during the plan election process, explain ICHRA, and assist them in selecting their coverage.

  • Submitting plans to the carrier: The Enrollment Team will submit election data from Zorro to the carrier and will be what is referred to as the Agent Of Record (AOR) with carriers. The Team will have the line-of-sight into application statuses and plan information on the carrier databases.

  • Viewing and monitoring payments on the carrier side: The Enrollment Team will be able to see information about payments on the carrier database. Depending on the carrier, the Team may sometimes be able to make the initial payment and set up auto-pay on behalf of employees.

The Enrollment Team will be responsible for all questions related to enrollments and statuses with carriers.
