Not a problem! That’s one of the best parts of ICHRA. If your preferences have changed, or if the plan you had is no longer a good fit, you can adjust and personalize according to your preferences.
To choose a new plan, simply follow the steps on Zorro once your election window starts. Zorro will issue your Zorro Pay card, and your application will be submitted to your new carrier.
It’s important to note that there is one additional step you need to take if you choose to discontinue a current plan and enroll in a one one. You will need to contact your current carrier and inform them that you are not interested in renewing. Although some carriers allow Zorro to do this behind the scenes, most require you, as the owner of the health plan, to make the final confirmation. Make sure to do this before January 1st. If your current plan is not formally discontinued, the carrier may assume you are continuing with it, and it’s possible you will receive delinquent payment notices.
Remember, with ICHRA you are the owner of your individual health plan so make sure to take the action needed to make sure your coverage is correct!
