As part of our service, Zorro sends out COBRA notifications automatically to employees upon termination in the system. Termination occurs either manually when you, as the admin, mark an employee as terminated, or automatically, via our payroll integration if one exists.
The notification is sent to employees’ work and private emails. It includes the language below, which summarizes employees’ options, as well as the official COBRA notice in PDF format, which is available in this article.
Important to note:
The notification covers only the medical HRA benefit, and not any other benefits (such as dental, vision etc’) that are not managed in Zorro. It advises employees to reach out to you, the HR/benefit admin, for election decisions and additional information about ongoing COBRA management.
Because of the unique nature of COBRA with ICHRA, it is rare that employees elect it. Your traditional COBRA vendor is likely able to assist, but reach out to them to check that they can administer elections if/when they do happen.
If you offer additional benefits, make sure you continue sending out COBRA notices for those.
