With an Individual Coverage HRA (ICHRA), your employer provides the allowance, but the medical plan is yours, and you are enrolled directly with the insurance carrier.
When you leave your job, the insurance policy remains in your name. However, you will no longer be eligible for the employer allowance after your coverage end date.
Your Zorro Pay card or ACH account will be terminated as of your coverage end date. It can no longer be used to pay your insurance premiums. Because the policy is in your name, you must take action to either secure the policy with your own funds or cancel it properly.
If you want to keep your plan, you must call your carrier and provide a personal credit card or bank account for future payments. You must do this before your coverage end date. If you do not provide a personal payment method, your insurance coverage will likely terminate due to non-payment.
If you do not want your medical plan to continue, you must call your carrier and ask to cancel the plan effective on your coverage end date. Do not assume your plan will cancel automatically because your payments will discontinue. If you do not call to cancel, the carrier may continue billing you for premiums and consider you delinquent, which can affect your credit or ability to get coverage later.
