Congratulations! Your employer is transitioning to an awesome new way of offering health benefits. ICHRA stands for Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement.
With ICHRA, you get a monthly allowance amount to shop for and enroll in a health plan with a carrier of your choice. The plans that you can choose for are referred to as individual plans, and the carrier and plan variety available to you will depend on your geographic location. Your allowance will be determined by your employer, and it could depend on a variety of factors, including geographic area, age, the family members you include in the plan and your employment type, among others. If you’d like to choose a plan that is more expensive than your allowance amount, you’ll be able to do so and add funds out of your own pocket.
